My daughter didn’t start getting serious about her photography business until she had a decent (like $700) Cannon camera. You could start by offering to do a few free shoots for friends with your small camera and get some good testimonials that way.

Good question Joshua! I think if you are producing a product (like a custom knife), you should charge a set price. If you are doing a job for someone (like black smithing), you should charge by the hour and give the customer an idea of how long the project will take, such as 2-4 hours and then warn them if it takes longer than you estimated.
Also check out your competition and see what they charge for a job or per hour. Be bold and ask them. Most small business owners will tell you their prices.

Marisa,
I think making a blog is easy. My first blog was at HomeschoolBlogger. It is free and was pretty easy to learn. A lot of homeschooled teenagers create blogs there. Visit their Library to get started.

Then I learned WordPress and now have several blogs there. It’s free and if you Google “WordPress tutorials,” you can learn a lot. There are even several YouTube videos to show you how.
