Micro Bushiness for Teens Club
Meet online once a month for mentoring and coaching as you start your own business!
The sessions will be held once a month live on Tuesday afternoons at 3:00-4:00 pm ET
Registration open now! $100 per student or $150 for a full family for two semesters.
Coaching and mentoring like this with Carol Topp, CPA would typically cost $815! So $100 for 8 hours of Carol’s time and experience is a bargain!
Session outline
Session 1 September 11, 2018: What is a micro business, getting an idea that works and brainstorming
Session 2 October 9, 2018: Product or service, Elevator pitch, market surveys
Session 3 November 13, 2018: Creating a business plan: concept and marketing portions
Session 4 December 11, 2018: Creating a business plan: financial portion and problems with debt
Session 5 January 8, 2019: Sales: tag lines, sales presentation, making the sale
Session 6 February 12, 2019: Marketing: describe your customer, marketing plan for local business, cards and flyers
Session 7 March 12, 2019: Marketing: reaching a distant market, website, blog
Session 8 April 9, 2019: Customer Service: 20 ideas to delight your customers, getting paid
Each student will be assigned homework and given portions of Carol Topp’s Micro Business for Teens Workbook to complete. No grades and no quizzes! The homework is not graded, but will help the students plan and run a successful micro business.
Additional Resources (optional but helpful):
Carol’s additional books Starting a Micro Business and Running a Micro Business can be purchased separately and will enhance the student’s knowledge, but are not required. If a student does read the additional books, completes the homework, and attends the club sessions, a parent or teacher can grant them 1/2 credit of Business as an elective class.

Your Coach and Micro Business Mentor:
The host will be Carol Topp, CPA, author of the Micro Business for Teens book series and operates an accounting practice (a micro business!) with an emphasis on helping teenagers, authors, bloggers and nonprofit organizations. She is a frequent speaker and presenter on money, nonprofit management, business start ups, and taxes. You may know her as the HomeschoolCPA.
Carol lives in Cincinnati, Ohio with her husband. She homeschooled her daughters for 14 years and both started micro businesses as teenagers. Emily taught piano lessons, tutored and did bookkeeping. Sarah designed web sites and took senior pictures.
In 2010, Carol wrote the Micro Business for Teens book series and in 2012 hosted the public television production of Micro Business for Teens:Starting a Micro Business.
