Did you just say poultry farm? That’s exactly the type of micro business started by teens, Alex and Ryan Costello and Bryce Retzer! Avid hunters, the boys asked for a dozen hens for a birthday present to bait traps. However, as their flock began to grow, they decided to renovate an old milk house behind the Costello’s house to start a poultry business. With a flock of over 300 birds, the boys already have a customer base, selling farm-fresh eggs and poultry. How did these boys build their business? They invested their time and energy on looking to expand, as well as fulfilling a need in the community. What started as a fun hobby became a micro business for these teens!
You can turn an idea into a micro business. Take a look at my book, Starting a Micro Business, for tips to get started!
