They call him the six-figure high school kid. His name is Emil Motycka. He has owned and operated one of the nation’s most successful lawn mowing services, Boulder Mowing, for more than half his life. Emil started mowing lawns when he was 9. After taking out an $8,000 loan when he was 13, he netted over $135,000 as a senior in high school from the business. Emil was featured in Entrepreneur Magazine and won top honors at the Celebration of Young Entrepreneurs at age 18. Now, as a senior in college, his business is valued around $200-300,000, and employs about 65 people! What started as a small lawn care service has grown into a successful micro business.
