Last year, we followed the idea of Ohio teen Hart Main, who started his own micro business centered around man-scented candles, called ManCans. (Find that post here.) I recently stumbled across a business update that will be a great encouragement to all you teen entrepreneurs out there:
Hart started with around $300 to produce his candles with scents he felt appealed to the male population. Just one short year later, he has produced over 24,000 candles, selling around 400 candles a week. He developed a charitable emphasis and reminds customers that “Every candle you buy will be made in a recycled soup can that has helped feed someone who was hungry.”
He has updated his website, installed an online payment into his website to meet demand, and just hired his first employee.
He’s also appeared on the PBS TV show, Biz Kids, and does a lot of public speaking!

Good work, Hart, and we wish you future success in your micro business!
Teens, be encouraged by Hart’s story. If you can develop a product that people want, your micro business will be off the ground in no time!
