Teen Micro Business Owner: Maggie Merritt

You are here: Home / Blog / Teen Micro Business Owner: Maggie Merritt

This week, I am happy to bring you another inspirational teen running her own micro business! This story is a great example of how a micro business can be found in any passion or interest.

Let’s get started! With us is Maggie Merritt. Maggie has a great micro business, which she calls Crowned Princess for a Day. Sounds interesting, right? Read on to see just what Maggie is up to.

Hi, Maggie! Could you tell us a little bit about Crowned Princess for a Day?

My micro business is Crowned Princess for a Day where I dress up as a beautiful princess and entertain at little girls’ birthday parties. I offer several different characters and packages. My characters are Rapunzel, Cinderella, Tinkerbell, and two historical figures. My packages vary, but they can include: posing for photos with the birthday girl and her friends, singing “Happy Birthday” over the cake, signing autographs, and giving each little princess a mini make-over session (complete with lipstick, eyeshadow, tiaras, and necklaces!).

What a great idea! How long has Crowned Princess been around?

I’ve been running my business for a year now and have done one birthday party, a food drive, and appeared at the Florida Parent Educator Association convention.

Why did you decide to start Crowned Princess and what has been most difficult so far?

I started my micro business to show little girls and young ladies that they can be the princess they always wanted to be – just by being themselves! The most challenging aspect of my business is talking to people who I do not know.

Maggie, if you could give any advice to aspiring teen micro business owners, what would that be?

My advice for teenagers is not to listen to people telling them that they can’t do or be the person they dreamed of being because that is just not true!

We appreciate you visiting Micro Business for Teens with your story, Maggie. Teens, be sure to visit Crowned Princess for a Day’s website to read more about what makes her micro business unique. Maggie runs her own business doing what she loves. And you can too! Think about what you are passionate about, and build a business around it. Need help getting started? That’s what my book, Starting a Micro Business, is for!

Maggie Merritt Is a very talented young lady representing herself well in her business of princesses! She stole the show at my daughter’s 7th birthday party. She engaged each child individually and as a group. I recommend her to all my friends and others out there!
